Frankly, I was disappointed when San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom dropped out of the gubernatorial race. When he kicked off his campaign, he put a great amount of emphasis on California leading the way in building a new sustainable economy. It turns out that the environment has become a key campaign issue regardless of the lack of a primary contest on the Democratic side.Read more

So if you've been reading my posts you know by now I am frustrated with the idea of Jerry Brown running unnopposed. Well, I just found out that there is an unknown candidate running in the democratic primary. His name is Richard Aguirre and his website is www.aguirreforgovernor.com. Aguirre is proposing desalination to address water issues such as those raised recently with the passage of legislation for a peripheral canal. Does anyone out there know the merits of such a proposal? Read more

Are there any Dems out there?

Is it me or is anyone else wondering why there aren't any democrats trying to be our next governor other than Jerry Brown? CLCV has endorsed a lot of possible contendors in the past. We have dozens of state and federal legislators who have good resumes of RECENT achievments regarding environmental policy. Many of them were mayor and worked on state boards overseeing infrastructure, air, water, etc.Read more
