Meg Whitman's Biography
Meg Whitman, former CEO of eBay, is a candidate for the Republican nomination for California governor.
Whitman, 53, is best known for her ten-year tenure as CEO of eBay, the online auction site. She ran the company from 1998 to 2008. Prior to working for eBay, she held management positions at Bain & Company, the Stride Rite Corporation, the Walt Disney Company, and Hasbro. She was a board member of Goldman Sachs from 2001 to 2002. She is also a former board member of the eBay Foundation, Procter & Gamble, and DreamWorks SKG, having resigned in 2009 in preparation for her gubernatorial bid.
Whitman was born in Long Island, New York. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Economics from Princeton University. She earned an MBA from Harvard Business School in 1979 and soon afterwards, she began her career with Procter & Gamble.
John McCain and Mitt Romney have endorsed Whitman’s bid for governor.
