Jerry Brown releases plan for environment

Today Jerry Brown, California’s Democratic nominee for governor, posted his environmental platform on his campaign website.  He opens the plan with this brief preamble:

Our coastline, farmland, mountains, deserts and urban environments all make up the great and unique landscape of California. They form the basis for tourism, agriculture, energy development, recreation and California’s ability to attract and retain businesses. Protecting the environment is essential to our long-term prosperity. I have long recognized that environmental protection and economic development go hand in hand and will continue to promote both as Governor.

Brown’s posting goes on to outline his record of environmental accomplishments, most recently as Attorney General, and the plan he would hope to implement as governor. In contrast to his Republican opponent, Meg Whitman, Brown states his clear and unequivocal opposition to Prop 23, the Dirty Energy Proposition on the November ballot, and a promise to direct investment into clean energy technologies and make California’s air healthier for our families.
