Betty Jane Wilhoit on building a greener governor
We caught up with Betty Jane Wilhoit, longtime staff member of the California League of Conservation Voters (CLCV), and got her thoughts on the upcoming governor's race.
It's not only California's natural beauty that's worth saving, she says; the leadership our state provides in setting a standard for the nation and the world is just as important.
Therefore, she says, the next governor needs to be an environmentalist all the time, not just when it's convenient. That person, whoever it is, must sign bills that truly protect our environment and effectively counter the "job killer" claims made by polluters with deep pockets.
What do you think is important in the upcoming election? Let us know in the comments or by posting your own video!

Betty Jane knows what she's talking about! We would be wise to listen to what she says -- previous governors have talked the green talk without walking the green walk. Let's make sure to elect a candidate who doesn't just say he or she is an environmentalist. He or she has to have a plan, and ideally, a record on the issues.
